Reference Management

Ensure that you are following University Guidance in your use of AI - See Artificial intelligence tools and your learning.
Be aware that AI content can be incorrect, biased or offensive. Be aware that your data can be used for training, so do not enter personal/private information. Note that Clarivate states: EndNote users have personal collections of full text documents stored in EndNote and are required to ensure they have the requisite rights for e.g. sharing and collaboration; AI use rights are likewise the responsibility of the user to secure/ensure.

EndNote 2025: AI Key Takeaway

EndNote 2025 now comes with a new feature powered by generative AI, enabling you to create short summaries - referred to as “key takeaways” - from articles and PDFs attached to your references. This functionality is supported by a large language model developed by OpenAI (like ChatGPT).

These summaries are generated at the level of individual documents and may contain innacuracies. For academic work, we recommend reading the author’s abstract as the trusted source of summary information.

University Guidance - Referencing AI content:
  • See How to reference AI (artificial intelligence) tools. If you use AI-generated content in your academic work, be open and transparent about how you have used it.
  • Do not rely on AI tools for shortcuts - It is part of your academic work to practice and develop keys skills like reading, writing and critically evaluating information.
