Built Environment, Computing and Engineering: Off Campus Students

Library Subject Guide for students in the School of Computing/School of Engineering & the Built Environment.

UK Based Distance Learners

This information is aimed at those UK based students who are studying by distance learning (not on campus) and those on blended online courses who do not attend campus regularly (this includes UK Graduate Apprentices).

To help you find out about library and IT resources and services, make sure you complete the Introduction to Library and Computing. This is part of the matriculation process. It will not take you very long and it will cover all of the basic information you need to use Library and IT services: http://my.napier.ac.uk/IT/GettingStarted/Pages/Off-Campus-Students.aspx

Off campus students living within the UK can:

  • Use LibrarySearch to find e-books - See E-books.
  • Access thousands of journals articles online - Finding Journals.
  • Find subject information for their area of study.
  • Register to use the Postal Loan service.

There is no need to register with the Library, but you will need your university login to access some of the available resources. This is the same login used for university email or Moodle.

You will find useful information on the Library Moodle pages: http://moodle.napier.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=1571

If you need help using library resources, then please contact us. Let us know you are studying off campus, and if you are having problems accessing an ebook or article online, please send us screenshots - this will help us to identify the problem.
