Welcome to this subject guide for students and staff from the School of Health and Social Care, my name is Maria King and I am the Subject Librarian for the school.

Your clinical skills as a health and social care practitioner are grounded in evidence based practice. The aim of evidence based practice (EBP) is for the clinical practices of health care professionals to be based on the best research evidence available, rather than on personal opinion or professional rituals. EBP should  lead to best practice being used in all clinical areas, improving quality of care & patient safety, and increasing patient satisfaction.

This LibGuide will direct you to the most useful search tools for finding research based literature/evidence, academic sources. grey literature, and reliable health statistics, and show you how to get the best out of these tools for your studies and professional practice.

If you would like to get in touch with me please click on the "Email Us" button below. Emails go to our general Library email address, so my colleagues can reply to you or pass your enquiry on to me as quickly as possible.
