Research Cycle - Gather & AnalyseIt can be time consuming at the beginning of your research to discover and compare appropriate methods to collect data for your project. Will you use qualitative or quantitative methods? Interviews? Focus groups? Observations? Do you need to identify new research methods or understand a particular method? The Library has a number of resources to help you get started and you can find more information about these on the following pages.

Our top tips for research methods;

Create a Data Management Plan. At first your Data Management Plan need not be exhaustive, but having a rough plan in place will help you later on.

Learn Research. Read up on different methodologies and think about how these might apply to your research.

Practise Analysis. You can use case studies and existing datasets to practise and experiment with data analysis.
